About

The Big Mouth Project

The Big Mouth Project is a collaboration between artists and WorkSafe Victoria to celebrate our biggest asset in the workplace. (Yes, that one.) To help spread the word we’ve asked some of the world’s most talented artists, typographers, writers, animators, web designers, model makers, photographers and dentists (ok, that last one was a lie) to bring our big fat friend to life in any way they see fit. Paintings, sculptures, movies, t-shirts, toys, pretty much anything to get the message out there. Even word of mouth. In fact, you could start that one for us if you like by telling your mates about this project.

The Big Truth

The fact is, if you’re aged between 15 and 24, you’re more likely to be injured at work than any other age group. Some injuries are minor, some are life changing and some are fatal. The best way to stay safe is to use your mouth and speak up. Ask your boss about the safety procedures you need to follow including whether you need safety gear (and if so, how to use it) and safety training (and who will give it to you). You can also talk about safety to your immediate supervisor, health and safety representative, a more experienced workmate or anyone else you trust like a family member, friend, teacher or lecturer. You can also use your mouth to get free, confidential safety information and advice from WorkSafe by calling 1800 136 089 or emailing bigmouthproject@worksafe.vic.gov.au
